Intelsat Selects Glowlink to Provide
Advanced Monitoring Capabilities for Teleport Monitoring
Systems
Los Altos, California, November 23, 2004
– Glowlink, a premier solutions provider for satellite
monitoring and control equipment, announced that Intelsat
has selected the Glowlink Model 1000 spectrum monitoring
systems for the Intelsat Teleport Monitoring Systems
(TMS) program.
“Service quality and reliability are Intelsat
hallmarks, and customers around the world count on us
for that,” said Mr. Richard Marlow, Director of
Satellite Management Systems at Intelsat. “The
Glowlink systems and value-added functionalities are
technically superior and cost-effective, and we are
eager to incorporate them into our global monitoring
and maintenance programs.”
With 28 satellites, Intelsat is one of the world’s
largest satellite service providers, with footprint
covering 99% of the world’s populated areas, serving
broadcasters and a full range of communications service
providers for corporate networking, fixed and wireless
voice and data, broadband, video and government services.
Jeffrey Chu, Glowlink President and CEO said: “Intelsat
has a large number of satellites and extensive worldwide
coverage. We are ready to support them for their current
and ongoing monitoring needs. The powerful and flexible
monitoring capabilities of the Glowlink Model 1000 will
enable Intelsat to easily and accurately assess the
quality of their traffic signals, as well as the performance
of their satellite and ground equipment.”
“This order is another example of Glowlink’s
ability to deliver advanced solutions to meet the needs
of both the commercial and government sectors,”
said Michael Downey, CTO, Glowlink. “Intelsat’s
Teleport Monitoring System will be equipped with powerful
features such as SunCar™ and TOP™. Among
other things, these features allow Intelsat operators
to measure in-band interferences and compression on
satellite transponders and ground RF equipment, and
to take any necessary remedial actions. This in turn
ensures that Intelsat has a high degree of positive
control in terms of the satcom services they provide
to both their commercial and government customers.”
The Model 1000, a DSP based spectrum monitoring system,
is ideal for monitoring satellites from either a central
operation center or multiple operation centers. Its
network-centric design allows it to be readily incorporated
into a monitoring network that is both flexible and
scalable, and which in turn can be expanded without
disruption to ongoing network operations.
